Who would win? The greatest PvMer defeating the most challenging boss or one beaver boy?

Hello everyone and welcome to the first post in a blog all about the nuances and nature of r/2007Scape. Reddit is a social media website with many different topics that users can link content about and discuss anything relevant to that specific subreddit. This blog will be looking at the subreddit over at  r/2007ScapeThe topic of this first edition are the top two posts of all time.

The top post of all time with a whopping 25,700 karma is an in game screenshot by user u/McFluffigins, who was gilded nine times for his humor tagged post. McFluffigins started his climb to the most upvoted submission in r/2007Scape by starting a goal to receive the woodcutting pet beaver (a very rare drop from a mundane skilling activity). He promised to deliver a daily post with a fact about beavers everyday until his goal was met. His journey started on September 21, 2017 and ended when he was gifted that well-deserved beaver on November 2, 2017. Over  the month and a half grind he gained many loyal followers who eagerly awaited his daily beaver facts, many of whom made numerous memes and text posts about needing the daily facts.
I need beaver facts in my life
McFluffigins now has over 84,000 karma, most of which was accumulated from his 42 beaver facts submissions. His highest upvoted post was beaver fact #5 which rang in at 7,300 karma.

Beaver Fact #5
McFluffigins now is a celebrity in the eyes of the subscribers of r/2007Scape, holding the coveted title of user with most upvoted post in the history of the subreddit.

The Infernal Cape
The next highest post submission is a video clip of arguably the best PvMer in the history of the game. Unlike McFluffigins and the beaver facts the poster of this video clip is not the player in the video but is the speedy redditor who won the karma race after Woox was the first to unlock the infernal cape. The infernal cape, the best in slot melee cape is a reward from completing The Inferno, the most challenging boss in the game. The Inferno is a lengthy and rigorous wave based minigame which takes a singler player through 69 waves with the final wave hosting TzKal-Zuk, a level 1200 monster boasting unwavering mechanics that the player must learn to defeat Zuk.

Old School Runescape has a vast community of gamers who stream themselves playing to the thousands of people watching. The Inferno was released on June 1, 2017 and with it brought a huge influx of viewers to streamers on Twitch, all intently watching as the best of the best tried their hardest to vanquish this undefeated foe. I remember making guesses with my friends about who would be the first while we were watching the streamers together. The most notable of streamers is Woox who managed to achieve glory as the first player to beat The Inferno. Woox made his way to Gielinor fame on June 3, 2017. User therealgodfarter, pulled in 22,639 karma earning his post the spot of second most upvoted post in r/2007Scape history.

  2. I thought your blog was really good. There was 1 thing that slightly bothered me, however. You said in the very first paragraph about Woox that the Inferno was "the most challenging boss in the game" only to say in the very next sentence, "The Inferno is a lengthy and rigorous wave based minigame". Aside from that, Woox would beat Beaver Boy any day because he's Woox.

    1. Good point! I guess I should have said that the Inferno is a lengthy and rigorous wave based mini game which hosts the most challenging boss in the game. Thank you for your feedback!

  4. The best part about this blog is that it uses the same font! Wish the OSRS reddit used RS font as well

  5. okay so it was a good read, but I'm pretty sure you are wrong. you said woox is arguable the best pvmer, this is incorrect, he is #1 in everything. No silly beaver boy can defeat him.

    Idea for next one.

AS osrs has become more popular, additional devs have been placed onto the osrs team and the development of the game is going quicker than ever. with the lastest
quality of life posts hugely facilating many actions in the game. Also, I'm not sure if you've seen the new mage arena 2 bosses, they are redoing 2 of them i think, they look pretty rs3 esque.

So my question is, did the popularity increase for osrs and decrease for rs3, lead to too high of a power creep (new fire cape, new avas, new bis mage gear, new bis bow, new bis mage cape, and planned for later this year is an upgraded neitz, all this year)? should osrs have kept the same # of devs or a similar #? How long until this game begins rs3 with the powercreep
and what can they do to turn this around?

    1. This is a great topic! Power creep is something that is highly talked about on r/2007Scape and I would have no trouble gauging the opinions and ideas of the subscribers of the subreddit. The longevity of our beloved game is something that needs to be taken into great consideration when new bis items are introduced. Thanks for reading and your input!

  7. Without a doubt the most exciting and memorable periods of old school runescape in 2017. Both events kept people tuning in constantly and broke records of awareness for the game for totally different reasons. Great job capturing the culture of reddit, osrs, and r/2007scape.
